WP5: Accompanying research

In the accompanying research indicators are investigated, that serve for evaluation of the development of Landscape Laboratories. FInAL uses a holistic approach that is defined by various areas of sustainability (environment/biodiversity/economics/society and politics). The accompanying research aims to generate a comprehensive data basis for the initial condition in the Landscape Laboratories and the changes caused by implemented measures over time. The accompanying research investigates insects but also other important animal groups present within the landscapes, their ecosystem services and ecological significance for the landscape, key parameters of the agricultural performance of the cultivation systems, the acceptance of measures in socio-economic systems, and the characterization of these systems themselves. Key indicators for evaluating success will be assessed by a set design of data gathering before and after the implementation of measures on sample areas based on unified indicator-specific protocols. All relevant parameters will also be assessed within the reference landscapes throughout the whole course of the project.
