Renewable resources

Renewable resources are agricultural or silvicultural products that are used for food or animal feed. They encompass a variety of plants that can, amongst other things, be used as energy crops, building material, lubricant, material in the chemical industry, as fiber, dye, or in pharmaceutical products.

They are very diverse and reach from annual herbs to perennial shrubs. Therefore, they are ideal to enhance existing crop rotations, supply various flowering resources, and to increase availability of nesting and refuge habitats for insects without taking agricultural areas out of production. By integration of renewable resources into existing cropping systems, FInAL aims to show that agricultural landscapes can be upgraded for insects while staying productive at the same time.
